In other words, the mapped electronic thermostat was knackered and whilst it had failed in the open position, it was giving erroneous readings to the ECU. The dealer had just about given up with it when another dealer took a look, and found a new fault code 2EF7 – 'map thermostat, activation, open circuit'.
